Dear Parents and children of The Acorns class (Nursery & Reception)
Welcome to our class page! On here you can find lots of information related to our class. As we move through the school year you will also be able to take a look at some of our fantastic work as part of our creative curriculum.
You can also find regular updates related to your child's learning and development on your child’s class Dojo page.
We pride ourselves on the positive relationships we make with parents of children in our care. If you would like to ask a question or find out more about your child’s learning and development, please do not hesitate to talk to a member of the EYFS team or leave a message with the main office or on Dojo and we will get back to you.

OUR LEARNING JOURNEY...
AUTUMN 1 2024 - WHAT DO I KNOW ABOUT ME?
September brings the start of a brand new school year! EYFS have enjoyed meeting new friends and exploring the setting. For our topic this half term, we have found out about each others family, our likes and dislikes, our bodies, our senses and our unique qualities. We even got some lovely weather at the start of the Term to enjoy our 'slip n slide'! Have a look below at some of our learning so far.
AUTUMN 2 - WHO MIGHT YOU FIND IN THE DEEP DARK WOOD?
EYFS have thoroughly enjoyed their topic this half term. As part of our topic, we went to Whinlatter Forest to experience what it is like in a deep, dark wood. We hunted high and low for the Gruffalo and found him along with his friends! We have investigated the Seasons and what happends to leaves in Autumn. The end of the term has brought lots of festive fun. EYFS enjoyed their Christmas treat to Planet Play where they got to meet a very special guest. The children also did an amazing job in our school performance 'A Verry Merry Westfield Christmas'.
SPRING 1 - WAS IT ONCE A MIXED UP TIME?
This half term we have enjoyed delving into the world of Traditional Tales! The children have enjoyed tales such as the Gingerbread Man, The Three Little Pigs and Goldilocks and the 3 Bear to name a few.
We have investigated what would happen if the Gingerbread Man fell into the river, which material would be best to build a house out of and even tasted some of the 3 bears porridge!
The children loved taking part in Number Day and created their own number book using the text 1 is a snail and 10 is a crab. Have a look at some of our highlights below.
NUMBER DAY 2025
RAGTAG ARTS - LOOSE PARTS PLAY 2025
EYFS loved their Ragtag Arts session. We designed and built a range of structures with lots of different loose parts. Take a look!
SPRING 2 - WHO CAN I ASK FOR HELP?
This half term, EYFS have enjoyed finding out about all the different people who help us in our school and wider community. We had the pleasure of welcoming Pamela in to talk to us about her role as a midwife and how she helps people. We have continued to work hard with our maths and literacy and have enjoys reading Supertato as part of our T4W. EYFS thoroughly enjoyed our STEM week where we investigated materials and which biscuit is the best for dunking! Have a look at some of our highlights below.
